I won't try to define it. It comes from deep inside, as feelings do, and has a particular taste, a faint flavour that my mind immediately translates to colour. And the colour suggests a shape, a theme, a composition.
This is my pre-working process, before I sit down and take my watercolours and my pencils, my inks and my papers and start drawing and painting.
So what causes the feeling to surface? It can be anything. The beauty of nature or of the human figure, a peculiar hue of the sunlight, a conversation kept or overheard (not intentionally, I promise), the design on a piece of fabric (I love fabrics) or someone else's artwork.
All these and many more things inspire me and the inspiration comes forward as a feeling and the feeling finally shapes an idea.
